Russian Music Festival - Vancouver was created in 2007 as a non-profit organization dedicated to contribute to diversity in multicultural Vancouver society. The Festival is promoting music of many outstanding Russian composers, such as P.Tchaikovsky, M.Glinka, S.Rachmaninoff, S.Prokofiev and many others.The Russian Music Festival is maintaining high professional level and is unique in its requirement - contestants need to perform one piece of a Russian composer or composers of former Soviet Union. The piece may be played on any instrument and the contestant may be of any age. Last Russian Music Festival - Vancouver - 2008 had contestant's age range from 3 years to 80 years old. You can refer to the Festival Syllabus for choosing the music or to Syllabus of the Royal Conservatory of Music (Introductory to ARCT Levels).

Russian Music Festival Vancouver-2009 will be representing two new categories:
 
  • Speech Arts (performing in Russian)
  • Russian Decorative Art
 
No age restriction in these categories as well.
 
Russian Music Festival- Vancouver is proud to represent Chair Person of The Festival Professor of UBC Eugene Skovorodnikov (www.encoreconcerts.org) and more great musicians who contributed a lot of efforts in adjudication during past festivals, such as Victor and Tanya Shevtsov (piano), Marina Vinnitsky (piano), Yuri Zaidenberg (violin), Alex Deineko (vocal). For the year of 2009 the well-known concert pianist Boris Konovalov is going to be one of our adjudicators.
 
Russian Music Festival - Vancouver has a fund including scholarships from local businessmen and trophies from musicians for the awards ceremony.
 
Winners of the 1st Place will be awarded a Trophy, Diploma and Scholarship.
Winners of the 2nd and 3rd Places will be awarded a Diploma and a special prize.
Teachers who presented the most participants and received the most first places will be awarded with special prizes.
 
Every contestant will receive a Certificate of Participation.
 
Every year Russian Music Festival - Vancouver gathers a warm welcoming audience. All contestants are welcome to wear folk costumes (we guarantee you will get attention from the audience and a special prize for the best costume). You can register online at www.russianmusicfestival.com from January 1st 2009. Deadline for registration is on February 15th 2009.
